Patrick Low
Co-owner
Patrick is a Kenyan national who has grown up in Kenya and is a part-owner of the plots being developed on Baobahari. He is an economist by profession, specializing in international trade, and has taught at various institutions, including El Colegio de México (Mexico City), the University of Hong Kong, and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. He has also worked in the research complex of the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, where, among other responsibilities, he served as Chief Economist for thirteen years. In addition to his academic and institutional roles, he advises policy and research initiatives and serves on the advisory boards of three prominent African think tanks and training institutions focused on trade matters, contributing practical insights and strategic guidance to advance trade policy and capacity building across the continent.

Julie Church
Co-owner
Julie is 4th generation Kenyan, grown up in Kenya and founder of the Baobahari concept, and part owner of the plots being developed on Baobahari. She is passionate conservationist and Baobahari is the prodigy of working as close to nature as possible to provide unique sustainable elegant homes each with access to the Tiwi Beach, where she spent much of her holidays when growing up. This has a profound impact on her love of the ocean, and her chosen career path - a marine conservationist and social entrepreneur. She now specialises in bespoke, expert led, ocean focused experiences in the Western Indian Ocean including Kenya Tanzania Mozambique Red Sea, South Africa, Seychelles through her company Seas4life. Previously, she founded and managed Ocean Sole - the filpflop recycling company in 2007,now a globally recognised successful company operating out of Kenya and selling throughout the world. She provides ocean focused talks to students.

Nico Pinto da Mota and Amina Foramitti
Pinto da Mota - Foramitti Architectural Studio
The Pinto da Mota - Foramitti architectural studio was established in 2006 and is headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is led by Arch. Nicolas Pinto da Mota and Arch. Amina Foramitti, who together guide the firm’s design vision and project management. The practice has been featured in both international and domestic publications, and was selected to represent Argentina at the 2023 Architecture Biennale of Venice. The partners have also contributed to and presented at several prestigious academic conferences at universities across Argentina. In 2014 Amina Foramitti relocated to Nairobi, Kenya to expand the firm’s international operations, and the studio currently has projects under execution in Kenya and Uganda. Additional international markets where the firm has worked include Uruguay, Thailand and Australia.

Wade Kilburn
Project Director
Wade Kilburn is a Project Director, Project Manager and registered Quantity Surveyor with over 20 years’ international experience and 15+ years delivering luxury residential projects in East Africa. Wade has worked on projects in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania. Previously Operations Director at multinational firms, Wade led complex, design-focused residential developments for private clients, family offices and developers. Key skills: project leadership, cost management, procurement strategy, construction oversight and commercial risk management across the project lifecycle—feasibility, design coordination, cost planning, value engineering, contractor selection, cost control, programme monitoring, quality assurance, commissioning and handover. Qualifications: Registered Quantity Surveyor (BORAQS, Kenya); Professional Quantity Surveyor (SACQSP, South Africa); member of ASAQS and AAK.

Brett Ayton
Contractor
Brett has been in construction for 25 years. Born in Kenya and educated in the UK, he has acquired a broad understanding of construction through apprenticeships and subsequently project manging teams of builders on renovations. From renovating listed buildings as a plasterer and general builder to building natural stone walls and working on abbeys in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas. Brett’s experiences have been invaluable to understanding the processes and applications that are integral to construction. So, in moving home to east africa and Having started a construction company in Kenya in 2006 Brett and ATA ltd have been growing and expanding in an ever-changing environment. To date ATA have successfully completed multiple property development projects since 2006 as well as multiple high end Private house builds around Kenya. Brett is a passionate builder and project manager with a keen eye for detail and aptitude for processes.

Haroun Sheikh
Sales Representative - South Coast
Our primary contact on the ground in the South Coast area is Haroun, who is thoroughly familiar with every facet of our operations and well-equipped to handle any inquiries you might have. Haroun has been associated with the family for over 30 years, beginning his career as a community liaison officer in Kiunga in the early 2000s when Julie Church was establishing Ocean Sole, the flip-flop recycling company that grew into an early pioneer of sustainable business. He is deeply committed to conservation and now contributes his extensive experience to the Seas4Life Foundation, working in an operational role across Tiwi and Diani. Central to our conservation efforts, Haroun manages activities from our sales office in Diani Shopping Centre, located above Muthaiga Mini Market, where he coordinates local initiatives, partnerships, and outreach. He is readily available to answer questions, provide practical local support, and connect you with the appropriate resources or team members when needed.
